How do I sign up?

If you are looking for Under 5s daytime spaces, or Adults-Only evening sessions, please email us at wirralgymclub@gmail.com to book.

All our other classes currently have a significant waiting list, so please fill out a Waiting List Enquiry Form and let us know which class(es) you are interested in. We will email you within one week to confirm that you have been added to the list, and will then contact you to offer the next suitable space once you reach the top.

Do you take beginners?

Absolutely! We pride ourselves on offering gymnastics classes for all ages and abilities. Our diverse range of groups allows children to train at a level appropriate for them, where they will be challenged without being overwhelmed.

See our Regular Classes page for more.

Do you offer adult classes?

We certainly do. We run weekly gymnastics and pilates classes for adults (age 18+). See our Regular Classes page for more!

Do all gymnasts enter competitions?

All our gymnasts will be invited to at least one competition per year (excluding Adults-Only and Adults and Tots), but recreational gymnasts do not have to take part if they do not want to. Some of our gymnasts will be invited to take part in extra competitions when appropriate.

When are subs due?

For all sessions, members must pay two annual subscriptions for Club Membership and British Gymnastics Insurance. These are due after the first session and again every September.

For Adults and Tots, Independent Pre-School and Recreational sessions, courses are booked in blocks of 8 weeks. Subs are due on the last week of each course in advance of the next block.

When will my email be answered?

If you sent us an email and haven't heard back, fear not! We will always respond as soon as possible, but all our admin is done by the coaches outside of their working hours, so at busy times (for example, when we have weekend competitions or daytime holiday sessions), there may be a delay.

If you haven't heard from us within 10 days, please feel free to send a follow-up, in case your email hasn't come through. Before this, please avoid sending chaser emails, as this adds extra work for the admin team and slows the process down further.

Thank you for your patience!

Are you open during the holidays?

For weekday after school and Saturday classes: yes! We are open all year round, except for public holidays and a short winter break. These sessions continue as normal during all other school holidays.

For Wednesday and Friday Under 5s classes: no, weekday daytime classes are term-time only. Please check the gym's closing dates as not all schools are on holiday at the same time.

We also regularly run a Holiday Club during the daytime in school holidays. Keep an eye on our Classes page to see if there are any sessions coming up!

Is there parking?

Yes! We have a free car park available for members opposite the main entrance.

There is also free on-street parking in the surrounding area.

How do I get to you?

Our address is: Wirral Gymnastics Club, Drill, Grange Road West, Birkenhead, CH43 4XE

See our Contact Us tab for more.

How early should I arrive?

Please aim to arrive 5 minutes early to ensure that your child has been to the toilet and taken off any outdoor clothing ready to start the warm up on time. Please try not to be late, as this can be extremely disruptive for the coaches and uncomfortable for the gymnasts. Unfortunately, anyone arriving more than 5 minutes late cannot be admitted. Refunds will not be given if your child is turned away due to lateness.

Do I have to stay with my child?

You are welcome to stay and watch from the balcony, or to drop off and collect at the end.

Of course, adults are a vital component of our Adults and Tots sessions, so we need you to stay for those!

Can I take photographs or videos?

No, for data protection reasons, taking photographs or videos is not permitted. If you would like a photograph of your child in the gym, please speak to a coach and wait until the end of the class to ensure that the image is of your child only.

Is jewellery allowed?

No, none at all. For safety reasons, British Gymnastics regulations prohibit any jewellery from being worn during training. This includes earrings, necklaces, bracelets, rings, anklets, friendship bracelets and holiday or festival wristbands. Please take them off before the beginning of your session to avoid disruption!

What should gymnasts wear?

No specialist clothing is required for beginners. We recommend that gymnasts wear a close-fitting T-shirt with shorts or leggings and bare feet. Warm clothes should be worn to and from the gym to keep muscles in good condition.

Once children have settled in, our club kit is available for purchase if desired. This includes leotards, unitards, shorts, T-shirts and hoodies.

What should be done with long hair?

Long hair MUST be tied up with soft bobbles to participate. We recommend plaits or braids to avoid discomfort during gymnastics skills. Please avoid using hard bobbles or clips, as these can impede gymnasts when doing rolls.
