The club was founded in 2001, after months of hard work by the owners, coaches and parents, who transformed the building (which was previously a bakery) into a top class, dedicated gymnastics centre. When opened, the club could boast 4 coaches and around a dozen gymnasts, but made rapid development, producing County and National champions, which contributed to it being awarded the Wirral Sports Forum 'Sports Club of the Year' in 2004.
In 2013, the club's founding Head Coaches stepped down, passing the baton on to current Head Coach, Michelle Stalker, who had been involved with the club as both a parent and a coach since just after its opening. The club has since grown beyond all expectations, with classes running 5 days a week for over 200 gymnasts of all ages and abilities. In 2017, we were fortunate enough to win the Wirral Sports Forum 'Sports Club of the Year' award for a second time.
WGC has celebrated success at many levels in various disciplines over the years, producing Champions at World, European, Regional and County levels, as well as tremendous success at competitions against local clubs.
