Sports Acro is a new discipline at the club. All the girls competed to a high standard even though they were nervous. For some of the girls it was their first Sports Acro competition. Rachel, Philippa, Jenny and Di are very proud of the girls on how they have matured into this discipline.

Grade 2 Womens Pairs 50 Josie Davies & Sophie Gradden came 3rd.
Grade 2 Womens Pairs 30 Maz Andrews & Sarah James came 7th.
Grade 2 Womens Groups 50 Josie Davies, Maz Andrews & Sophie Gradden came 5th.
Grade 1 Womens Groups 30 Victoria Lane, Senga Shipley & Madaline Hopkinson came 5th; Aimee Cheung, Maddie Parnell & Thea Holmes came 10th.
Neston Sets, Neston Recreational Centre, July 2008
Wirral Gymnastics Club shone at the Neston Sets Gymnastics 2- piece competition held on Sunday 6th July. 40 gymnasts ranging in age from 5 - 15yrs entered the competition and claimed 20 gold, 12 silver and 15 bronze medals. An amazing 47 medals in total, plus 8 overall 1st places. The top 10 gymnasts' scores went towards the Overall Club trophy which was won by Wirral Gymnastics Club for the 4th year in a row! The club was very proud of all the children, especially those who were competing for the first time.
Merseyside Floor & Vault Competition. Crewe. May 2008
Jessica Clay became novice U10 County Champion after getting a Gold for vault and silver on the floor. Rebecca Beesley got bronze on vault in pre novice U7 with Elin Hughes getting the overall Bronze in the pre novice U7.
In the pre novice U8 Erin McBride got the overall Bronze and in novice U8 Christa Neil got Silver on Vault.
Kira Stalker got Bronze on Vault in the novice U9 and Thea Holmes got a silver on vault in the novice U10 age group.
In the Novice U11 group Madeline Hopkinson got Gold on floor and Silver overall and Amee Foster got Silver on Vault and Bronze overall.
In the Intermediate U12 group Alex Peberdy was awarded 2nd on Floor, 3rd on Vault and 3rd Overall. In the Intermediate O12 group Victoria Lane was awarded 3rd on Floor and 3rd Overall.

Prep A Prep B competition, in the tumbling age 8 -10 Emily Montgomery Smith got Bronze, Bethany Williamson 7th, Laura Jane Bellis 9th, Courtney Doughty 10th. In a group of 40 they all did well in their first competition. In the 5-7 age group Siobhan Harris got Gold, Georgia Hulme Bronze. Orla Holmes was 4th and Lucy Teare 5th. They had 18 in their group.
In the Acro prep A 36 tarriff Emily Montgomery Smith & Orla Holmes were15th and Bethany Williamson & Georgia Hulme were16th in a group of 28.
Phil Tighe Competition, Droylesden, April 2008
Wirral gymnasts always enjoy the Phil Tighe competitions. There is always a large field of excellent gymnasts to compete with, and this year was no exception. Leo Westbrook of the Boys squad got the club off to a winning start by taking the Champion's trophy for overall performance in the Boys Under 12 category, picking up a Gold medal in the Vault competition on the way. Rebecca Blacklock took Gold on Floor, Silver on Vault and the Champion's trophy for overall in the Girls Over 12. Victoria Lane came a close second in the same competition, taking a Bronze on the Vault, Silver on the Floor and the Silver medal for overall perfomance. Casha Anderson performed a stunning Floor routine and was just pipped for the Gold, taking the Silver by a narrow margin in the Girls 12 and Under category in competition Aisha Stalker took the Gold medal for Floor, and the Bronze for Overall in the Girls Under 12 competition Maddie Hopkinson took the Silver medal for a tremendous Floor exercise, and Alex Peberdy took a Bronze medal for overall performance in the same competition. Fantastic performance everybody!
North West Prelims, Liverpool March 2008
Congratulations to Rhiannon Beckett and Aisha Stalker for taking Silver in the Grade 1 Women's Pairs competition at the North West Sports Acro Preliminary competition at Park Road in Liverpool on the 16th March. Great job, girls!
North West Novice Prep A Comp, Oldham Feb 2008
Our ever improving Sports Acro squad took to the competition floor again in Oldham on the 24th of Feb, competing against clubs all over the North West. Congratulations to Vanessa Noakes and Autimn Townsend for taking Gold, Amee Foster and Holly McEvoy for taking Siver, and Maddie Parnell and Christa Neil for taking Bronze.
Cheshire and Merseyside WA NDP Grades, Neston, Feb 2008
Many congratulations to all gymnasts who took part as everybody passed! Special congratulations go to Claudia Bartlett on becoming the new Grade 5 Out of Age County Champion. Claudia along with Lauren Gallagher, Jessica Clay and Bethan Williams will represent Cheshire and Merseyside in the upcoming North-West Regional Grades competition as part of the county squad. A big 'Well done' also goes to Freya Robinson on winning a place as a reserve for the county squad.
